LAKE FOREST, Calif., 19 Feb. 14, 2011. Panasonic Avionics Corp. announced the first test flight of its eXTV in-flight entertainment (IFE) service. During the flight the company used eXTV to deliver a live television feed to a Boeing business jet equipped with Panasonic's eXConnect service.
"We are very excited by the results of our first eXTV test flight because it clearly proves the concept and demonstrates the robust performance of our TV solution," says David Bruner, vice president for Panasonic Avionics's Global Communications Services. "Not only can we deliver a quality, live television feed, but we can do it using the same antenna and using the same network as our global eXconnect service."

Panasonic's eXTV television network will use the company's eXConnect in-flight Ku-band communications service to deliver high quality television programming to passengers during their flight. It will provide live, uninterrupted content to aircraft flying all over the world, even over oceans. The service will offer several baseline channels in addition to optional, premium programming.
