SAVANNAH, Ga., 22 July 2011. Gulfstream officials selected a lithium battery system from Securaplane Technologies Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Meggitt Plc., for use on the G650 business jet. The battery system's lightweight should reduce overall weight per aircraft by about one passenger, Securaplane officials say.
Operators will be able to schedule timely maintenance of the system through its built-in monitoring feature.
Securaplane engineers also developed the charger for the lithium main ship batteries on the Boeing 787 through Thales and, direct to Boeing, the aircraft's rechargeable batteries for the wireless emergency lighting system.
