Goodrich to deliver health and usage management system for U.S. Army UH-60 helicopter fleet


CHARLOTTE, N.C., 11 June 2012. Goodrich Corp. (NYSE:GR) gained a U.S. Army order to provide 80 spare health and usage management system (HUMS) electronic units for UH-60 Black Hawk helicoptersGoodrich's Sensors and Integrated Systems business in Vergennes, Vt., will begin deliveries in early 2013.

"It started as an R&D project in Vermont, but HUMS has become a vital life-saving and cost-saving tool that now is standard equipment on military helicopters," says Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).

The HUMS system is used with Army Black Hawk helicopters, helping execute safety and rescue missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. In recent deployments, the Black Hawks with HUMS had 17 percent lower total maintenance costs with a greater than 50 percent reduction in unscheduled maintenance, enhancing readiness for critical troop transport and medical evacuation missions, according to a Goodrich representative.

Goodrich provides HUMS for numerous U.S. military platforms, including the Army UH-60 and CH-47 fleets; Marine Corp. CH-53, AH-1, UH-1, and V-22 fleets; and the Navy MH-60 fleet.
