DC-DC power supply for power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications introduced by Murata

MANSFIELD, Mass., 29 July 2012. Murata Power Solutions in Mansfield, Mass., is introducing the EMH-54/3-Q48N-C DC-DC power module for power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications that require a wide operating voltage range such as battery-powered systems (24-, 48-, or 60-volt) and wireless base-station applications.

The power electronics device provides a 54-volt SELV output, 2,250 volts DC isolation, and a basic insulation system meeting the requirements for multiport IEEE 802.3 at (PoE+) applications. The EMH-54/3-Q48N-C can deliver more than Watts of power at 54 volts to each of four PoE+ Ethernet ports, or can deliver as much as 162 Watts to loads requiring 54 volts.

The modules accommodate a voltage input range of 18 to 72 volts DC suitable for applications across all regions of the world.

The EMH-54/3-Q48N can be configured mechanically to operate in applications that require forced-air cooling or sealed box applications.

This power supply delivers 54-volt at 3 amps over an operating input voltage range of 18 to 72 volts with efficiencies as high as 91.5 percent.

The modules are UL approved and conforms to the industry-standard DOSA half-brick package measuring 58.4 by 61 by 12.7 millimeters. An optional baseplate can be supplied if the application requires a heat sink, or for use in conduction cooling applications.

Added protection features include input under voltage lockout, output current limiting, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown.
