VSI demonstrates helmet-mounted display technologies at 2012 Farnborough Air Show

F-35

SAN JOSE, Calif., 6 July 2012. Vision Systems International (VSI), a provider of helmet-mounted display (HMD) technologies for tactical aircraft, is presenting three of its systems—the F-35 GEN II HMD, Targo HMD, and Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS)—at the 2012 Farnborough International Airshow. Select attendees will gain an opportunity to see and feel what fighter pilots experience when donning the helmets, via a simulated demo of HMDS capabilities.

VSI won a $32 million contract earlier this year for the delivery of its JHMCS technology—its first combat-proven helmet and a popular helmet display for fixed-wing tactical aircraft—to Boeing Company for U.S. and Foreign Military Sales (FMS).

VSI engineers, under contract with Lockheed Martin Aerospace, also helped to enhance the F-35 HMDS currently in production for the 5th generation Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.

The company’s Targo is designed to be a low-cost, low-integration solution for light attack, airlift, and trainer aircraft. The system can meet virtually any required level of integration, from an autonomous training system to full-up integrated helmet display.
