“Today, we launched the fourth generation of the B300, our most popular rugged notebook that has been deployed across every major rugged sector from police and fire to military, utilities, and field service,” explains Jim Rimay, president of Getac. “We’ve packed even faster processors, amazing graphics and increased storage with a long list of features from 4G LTE, QuadraClear Display, subfreezing operation, and up to 30 hours of extended battery life.”
A third-generation 2.6-gigahertz Intel Core i5-3320M (MAX 3.3) or 2.9-gigahertz Core i7-3520M (MAX 3.6) processor improves CPU performance by up to 67 percent and nearly doubles the graphic performance, with a 91 percent gain over the previous generation, says a company representative.
The B300 now comes standard with a 500-gigabyte hard drive and offers solid-state drive storage up to 256GB, enabling greater productivity.
Built to function effectively in even the harshest working conditions, the new B300 adds a magnesium alloy housing to its fanless, sealed design. The B300 was designed “to ensure continued operation in any environment, reducing the risk of failure and minimizing down time in the field,” says a spokesperson.
The Getac B300 incorporates Getac’s QuadraClear display technology. Its 1400 NITs option enables easy viewing in extreme lighting conditions, such as direct sunlight and reflective conditions, including sand and snow. For military soldiers working in hostile areas, the B300 can be configured with a filter-free, night-vision mode ensuring for viewing without giving away location.
The B300 features USB 3.0 and USB 3.0/eSata combo ports, HDMI and VGA ports, an IEEE 1394a port, an Ethernet port, and two legacy RS-232 serial ports, as well as built-in GPS, 4G LTE wireless Internet, and such security features as a built-in fingerprint reader, Intel vPro Technology, and TPM 1.2.
