Boeing 787 Dreamliner training suites from Thales approved by FAA and EASA

CRAWLEY, England, 10 Sept. 2010. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have approved two Boeing Training Boeing 787 Dreamliner Full Flight Simulators, manufactured by Thales, to Interim Level C. In addition, the FAA has also approved the associated Boeing 787 Flight Training Device (FTD) to Level 5 and EASA has approved the FTD to EASA Level 2. This is the first time that two authorities have approved four devices in parallel, Thales officials say.

Rockwell Collins selected for U.S. Navy's HITS-M program

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, 8 Sept. 2010. Rockwell won a four-year contract for the U.S. Navy's Hawkeye Integrated Training System - Maintenance (HITS-M) program and will serve as the prime contractor in designing and developing the first integrated maintenance training systems on the E-2D platform.

As part of flight training, pilots train on a 787 flat panel training device and a 787 full-flight simulator -- both manufactured by Thales.

787 Dreamliner Pilot Training Courses from Boeing get FAA provisional approval

SEATTLE, 16 Aug. 2010. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted Boeing (NYSE: BA) Training & Flight Services provisional approval for its 787 Dreamliner pilot training courses. With the 787 pilot training courses, pilots can transition to the new airplane in five to 20 days, depending on pilot experience. Boeing 777 pilots can qualify to fly the 787 in as little as five days, given the high level of commonality between the two airplane types.

Full flight simulator for Embraer Phenom 300 qualified by ANAC, FAA and EASA

SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil, 14 Aug. 2010. Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS) first Phenom 300 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) has been qualified by the Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil -- ANAC), the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The state-of-the art flight training tool located at CAE's SimuFlite Training Center in Dallas is already being used for Phenom 300 pilot qualification.

CSC wins contract modification to increase simulation-based aviation training for U.S. Army

FALLS CHURCH, Va., 9 Aug. 2010. CSC (NYSE: CSC) won a $28 million modification to its Flight School XXI contract for an increase in simulator-based flight and related aviation training support to the U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence at Ft. Rucker, Ala.

First Dauphin AS365 N3 full flight simulator delivered in Singapore

The simulator is being developed and built in partnership with Thales and will be operational in Eurocopter South East Asia's (ESEA) new training facility in Singapore by mid 2012.

F-22 Full Mission Trainers to be built by L-3

Boeing developed and implemented the overall F-22 Training System, which includes L-3's high-fidelity F-22 FMTs that enable pilots to practice operating the aircraft. F-22 FMTs are used to reinforce air-to-air and air-to-ground warfighting skills, including undertaking simulated missions against advanced integrated radar networks and dense surface-to-air missile environments.

European flight simulator designers blend robotics and practice cockpits to cut costs of full-motion simulation

European flight simulator designers are creating cost-effective full-motion flight simulators for helicopter pilots by using a heavy-duty industrial robot to provide motion to the simulator's cockpit. Simulation and training experts from helicopter services and training company Heli Aviation GmbH in Wallerstein, Germany; the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics in Tübingen Germany; and industrial robot specialist KUKA in Augsburg, Germany, are designing a helicopter flight simulator called the Heli Trainer that uses a KUKA robot to move the simulator's cockpit as it emulates the motion of flight.

CAE wins multiple commercial flight simulation and training contracts contracts

MONTREAL, 8 July 2010. CAE announced that it won new training solutions contracts with Bombardier, ATR, and Vietnam Airlines. The contracts include the sale of four full-flight simulator (FFS) orders which bring the total FFS sales that CAE has announced during fiscal year 2011 to six.

Real-time simulation for improved air traffic system in Paris

Rockwell Collins Edge B737 NG simulator achieves FAA Level D certification

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa 5 June 2010. Rockwell Collins achieved Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 60 Level D qualification for its Edge Boeing 737 NG Full Flight Simulator (FFS). The simulator, delivered in April, is located at Pan Am International Flight Academy's North American training center in Miami.

Boeing connects 1st F-22 Mission Training Center to Air Force network

ST. LOUIS, 6 Feb. 2010. Boeing [NYSE: BA] connected the F-22 Mission Training Center (MTC) at Langley Air Force Base, Va., to the U.S. Air Force's Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) in November, allowing F-22 pilots at the base to train virtually with pilots in other aircraft platforms for the first time. The MTC at Langley is the first of four F-22 training centers that Boeing will link to the network over the next three years.
